In the tumultuous landscape of emergency response, where every moment teeters on the edge of life and death, heroes emerge from the shadows with unyielding courage and unwavering determination. Among them stand the Special Operations Rescue Paramedics of the Austin/Travis County Public-Safety Department—a beacon of hope in the darkest of hours. I count myself among these valiant warriors, whose journey has been marked by trials and triumphs, sacrifices and salvation.

My path as a Special Operations Rescue Paramedic has been defined by the relentless pursuit of preserving life, regardless of the perils that lie ahead. From navigating treacherous terrain to braving the ravages of nature’s fury, every call to action was a testament to our unwavering commitment to the motto: “TO PRESERVE LIFE.” Yet, amidst the chaos and camaraderie, there existed a silent struggle—a battle waged not on the battlefield but within the recesses of the mind.

The toll of constant exposure to trauma, the weight of responsibility, and the relentless pressure to perform under duress exacted a heavy price on my mental well-being. The scars left by years of service ran deep, casting a shadow over my soul and threatening to consume me whole. It was a journey fraught with despair, but it was also a journey of resilience—a journey that led me to the transformative power of ketamine infusion therapy.

In the aftermath of my sacrifice, I found myself grappling with the demons of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a silent affliction that gnawed at the very core of my being. But through sheer grit and determination, I embarked on a journey of healing—a journey that would lead me to the doors of hope and renewal.

Ketamine infusion therapy emerged as a beacon of light in the darkness—a revolutionary treatment that offered a glimmer of hope where there was once despair. Through the gentle embrace of this life-saving therapy, I found solace in the midst of chaos, peace in the eye of the storm. It was a journey of self-discovery—a journey that would ultimately lead me to reclaiming my life and embracing a new purpose.

Today, I stand not as a victim of circumstance but as a survivor—a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of healing. Proudly, I serve as the Co-founder and CEO of the Austin Ketamine Clinic—a sanctuary of hope for those grappling with the invisible wounds of trauma. Together with #PAINTING4PTSD and the Wolfe Non-Profit Foundation, we strive to make this life-saving treatment accessible to those who save lives every day.

In partnership with like-minded organizations, we are breaking down barriers, erasing stigma, and paving the way for a brighter future—one infused with hope, healing, and compassion. For the Special Operations Rescue Paramedics of Austin/Travis County EMS, the journey continues—not just to preserve life, but to embrace it in all its beauty and complexity. And as we stand on the precipice of tomorrow, let us remember that even in the darkest of hours, there exists a beacon of hope—a guiding light that leads us from the depths of despair to the shores of redemption.
